Bastar - Part 3 - Drive to Tatamari View Point

We started off to Tatamari from Jabarra by 12:30 and reached Tamari by 2:30 PM.

Located just two kilometers Kondagaon district, Tatamari is one of the best getaways from the hustle and bustle of cities and to unwind the stressful mind

Tatamari Viewpoint

As we parked our vehicle at the parking lot and started walking towards the viewpoint. There were food joints on the left, further ahead restrooms and finally the viewpoint.

Lunch was already made ready for us at this place. So, we decided to have food first and then explore the place. As we quickly moved ahead to use rest rooms, we saw tribal art in every building of this campus. We could use rest rooms in guest houses. So, looks like good lodging facilities are made available by tourism department.

We had a sumptuous lunch here. Aloo Gobi is a default veggie served in meals. We were surprised to see another vegetable which is usually prepared in the coastal region of Karnataka. We call it "Patrode" in Konkani and "Saigodha" in Chattisgarh.  This dish is mainly prepared with Colocasia leaves which is then smeared with masala paste(mainly made from lentils), steamed and then shallow fried. Here we saw it in curry form. This new variation also was very tasty😋.

Patrode

Post filling our tummies with yet another variety of Chattisgarhi cusinie, we decided to take a stroll towards the viewpoint and relax there.

We could see lot of peaks of Keshkal valley covered with lush greenery in front of us.

There are good seating arrangements where you can stretch your legs and relax. This was required for us after our long village walks and hike in Jabarra. So much needed relaxation for us to unwind the stressful mind and body. It was very calm and peaceful there since we didn’t find many tourists. So, when in Kondagaon would suggest you visit this place for a relaxed getaway away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

We could see archery boards also. Looks like you can easily spend an evening or a day here since lot of activities are being planned.

We got to know that the main idea of developing this place into an ecotourism center was to generate employment for the youth of local Pardhi tribes. Indeed, a good initiate by Chhattisgarh government.

Bhangaram Maai Temple

This temple is situated at around 1 km distance from the Tatamari Viewpoint. Bhangaram Devi resides here and she is called “Goddess of justice”. It is believed that this place is a court of all gods and goddesses, and they are punished according to their deeds. Based on the complaints provided by the devotees, the deities are sentenced by supreme judge “Bhangaram Devi”. Every year people from different villages bring in their gods/goddesses and tell their problems of drought, natural calamity or any disease outbreak. Local Pujari’s(temple priest) or village Mukhiya’s(head) act as representative to defend the case on behalf of deities. Surprising – isn’t it? But locals practice this religiously.

Both these places can be covered in a half day visit from Kondagaon.

After offering our prayers to Bhangaram Devi, we then started off to our next destination Kondagaon which is famous for Bell Metal Handicrafts. I will be covering that in my next blog.

So, signing off now with some breathtaking views from Tatamari View Point.
