Ladakh – Part 2 – Exploring the land of monasteries, mysterious magnetic hill and picturesque Sangam

Image
Day 2: Sightseeing Around Leh Morning after breakfast, we set off to sightseeing around Leh and it was quite an eventful day. Spituk Monastery This was our first stop. This is situated on hilltop. Hence you can imagine incredible views from this monastery. Offering a panoramic view of the Indus River and its valley, this Monastery is an ideal place for photography. Sangam (Confluence) Sangam is the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. One can clearly differentiate between the two waters from the road itself.  One of the adventurous activities that the Ladakh landscape offers is river rafting along the Zanskar river. Some of our fellow travelers had already inquired and planned about this. They asked if we would like to join them. And without a second thought we said “Yes: 😊. It was truly amazing. The water currents weren’t that great but the twists and turns of the river made whitewater rafting on the Zanskar a memorable adventure with the splendor of landscape adding more flav

Ladakh will be in the bucket list of most of the travel addicts. Hence it was there in my list as well. And Bollywood movies like “3 Idiots”, “Jub tak Hai Jaan” enhanced my craving to visit this place. And this wish came true in May 2016 where in finally I got an opportunity to visit this place that left startling memories in my mind.  We made bookings for this trip from MakeMyTrip (MMT)since back then I was not aware of these wanderlust travel groups. And I pulled one of my dear friend to explore this enchanting place with me.  Day1 : Arrival at Delhi We boarded our flight from Bangalore and reached Delhi a night prior since the Leh flight was scheduled for departure early in the morning. So MMT had made all the necessary arrangements for us. Refreshments for the interim stay in Delhi were provided at MMT supported longue in a Hotel with return airport transfers.  Day2 : Delhi  - Leh By Flight In the morning, we boarded our flight for Leh. People who have altitude sickness, please con

Bhu Varahaswamy Temple - The LandLord

The Bhu Varahaswamy Temple is situated in a small village called Kallahalli on the banks of the Hemavathi River. This is one of the most popular places near Mysore in Karnataka.  How to reach there from Bangalore: Since we had heard that Mysore road was clogging with water due to heavy rains, we decided to take the other route via Yeshwanthpur, Kunigal, Yadiyur, Nagamangala, Kallahalli. Without any stops, it will take 3.5 hours approximately to reach this place from Bangalore. Personal transportation is the only way to reach there since I did not see any KSRTC bus en-route our journey. Google maps will take you through interiors of villages hence ensure you have downloaded the map beforehand. And ensure that you start for this place in the morning and plan to head back to Bangalore by evening before it is dark. Make sure you pack your own food, snacks, water, juice packets even medical essentials with you because once you cross Kunigal you will not find much outlets to buy these. Even
