Ladakh - Finale Day- Monastery Tour and Leh Sightseeing
Day 06: Leh - Monastery tour and sightseeing
Today was monastery tour and sightseeing day. We knew there would be lot of walking, climbing since most of these monasteries are located uphill. Hence, we had a good heavy breakfast at the hotel. Weather was little warmer today. So, we left our jackets in the room and started off on the last day of our tour-sightseeing of Leh.
Overall, we covered the following places – Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, Hemis Monastery and Leh Palace. Honestly, I don’t remember much about these places since I had visited them way back in 2015. But views from each of these places were just incredible. Moreover, we were little low in energy due to last 2 days of continuous long travel to Khardungla and Pangong.
But as they say, these pictures below will speak more than I could pen down in my own words.

Day 07: Departure
As we packed our bags today to leave to Leh airport, we were overwhelmed with the hospitality of the hotel staff, our beloved driver cum tour guide who was there with us throughout. Special butter tea was prepared for us. Butter tea is very famous in Ladakh and it is made from black tea leaves and yak butter. You should taste this when in Ladakh.
As we tipped each one of them as a token of thanks, we could hear only one word "Juley"(Hello) from each one of them. Everyone in Ladakh greets you with Juley and if you offer them anything they say Juley. So we learnt this one Ladakhi word "Juley" during our stint in this place.
And as our flight took off from airport, we said "Juley Ladhak" 😊 - an amazing place of rugged valleys, snow-covered mountains, curvy roads, century old monasteries and the most beautiful Pangong lake. We had a smile on our face as we recollected our weeklong stint in Ladakh, the places we covered, the great time spent and the satisfaction of ticking another place from my bucket list 😊.
If you are a mountain lover, then you should definitely visit this place. Please make sure to visit during May last week since you get to enjoy the changing weather conditions during this time of the year only.
