Gowdagere Chamundeshwari Temple Hosting World’s Tallest Panchaloha Chamundeshwari Statue

This temple was suggested by the priest at the Bettada Thimmappa temple, Bevoor (Blog link). He advised us to visit this place since it is just 2-3 Kilometers from Bevoor with a surety that we wouldn't have seen such a huge statue of Goddess Chamundeshwari Devi anywhere.

So, without a second thought, we set off to our unplanned surprise element of the day – World’s tallest Chamundeshwari Statue. Priest told us that this temple is in Gowdagere village, Channapatna Taluk. You can even ask the local people for directions.

Looks like this temple is recently built. Hence, we didn’t have difficulty reaching here since there were signboards all along the way leading us to the temple.

We parked our vehicle at the parking lot and started walking towards the temple. This place was crowded but there is ample space for parking.

The main attraction of this spot is the 60-feet Goddess Chamundeshwari Statue with 18 hands. The statue is made of five metal alloys and is said to be the world's tallest statue dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari. This is installed on a platform comprising of around 10-15 steps. Hence its clearly visible from far off distance. We decided to visit this closely later and visited the main temple hosting the Goddess Chamundeshwari idol first.

I don't have picture of the main deity inside the sanctum since photography is not allowed.

After praying to Goddess Chamundeshwari, when we took a parikrama of the temple we could see lot of small temples dedicated to different deities here – Navagraha, Ganesha, Shiva, Tripura Sundari (Had always heard about her. Got to see her first time 😊).

Finally, we came out of the temple and headed towards the magnificent panchaloha (meaning made out of five-metal alloys) statue. There are around 10-15 steps you need to take to walk up to the statue.

It seems that villagers from surrounding areas of Channapatna contributed with old metals. From copper tumbler to bronze pot, old boilers, broken metal lamps, and unused items including aluminum were given. In all, 36 tonnes of metal alloys were used in the making of this status. Truly amazing.

There is annadana (free food distribution) facility here. So, people can have food here after visiting the deity.

Right next to Annadana Center there is Goddess Chamundeshwari's Moola Sthana(Main place). Please watch out your steps which walking here since this place is still under construction and you may find lots of stones, bricks lying around.

There is Basappana Sannidhi which is the house of the main temple bull (Basava). When we were at the Ammanavara Sannidhi, we saw priest doing Pooja of Basava.

There is a big poster showing the blueprint of the entire temple premise. They are raising funds also for the same. If you are interested, you can donate as well. So may be you can visit this place in another 3-4 months so that the entire temple premise is ready as shown in the blueprint. But worth visiting now as well since its still lesser known😊.

Finally, we big adieu to Goddess Chamundeshwari and headed back to Bangalore.
