Srinivasa Sagara Dam

Srinivasa Sagara Dam is located in Chikkaballapur and serves as a perfect picnic spot for a weekend getaway from Bangalore.

If you are driving, you will easily need around 2 hours to reach  Chikkaballapur from Bangalore. Would suggest plan this post lunch since there aren't good options for food along this route.

Once you reach Chikkaballapur, switch on google maps which will give you directions to this place.

People who wish to explore this place by local transport can take the KSRTC bus from Bangalore to Chikkaballapur. Upon reaching Chikkaballapur, you can hire an auto to this place.

As you enter Sri Venkateshwara Temple Road, you will be stopped to pay parking fee here.
Parking fee = Rs 20.

After taking parking ticket, you drive for another 350 meters and reach parking lot. There is a huge area dedicated mainly for parking but we drove up to Sri Venkataramana temple and there is enough space to park your vehicle here also since there were less visitors on this day.

We got off our vehicle and decided to visit the temple first to offer our prayers to Lord
Venkateshwara.

After praying to the deities, we then saw few people climbing up the hill. So we followed them and reached on top after a short climb uphill.

Actually more than the mini waterfall area, I found this as the WOW spot of this place. You could see clear waters of the reservoir spread across vast area with amazing views of the mountains in the backdrop.

We took a short walk along the edge of this hill and reached on the other side where we could see this water flow down to form the mini waterfall which is the main attraction of this place.

We then got down this hill and walked towards this spot. Unfortunately it was not overflowing as expected. But this place is a must visit in monsoons.

There are some food stalls here where you will get light snacks like bhel, cucumber, tea and sugarcane juice. Hence plan your travel accordingly.

Restroom facilities are not available here. We could see a restroom built with interesting murals but it was locked. We checked with shopkeepers around and they said that its locked usually.

We then ordered sugarcane juice and spent some time absorbing the views of the fields around along with sunset.

Overall this place serves as a perfect place for an ideal weekend getaway from Bangalore.
