Dr. H N Science Centre - Time to recap your Science Concepts

1-Jan-23

It was new years eve and a Sunday too. So we knew that all the famous tourists spots in and around Bangalore would be super crowded or Government would have even banned entry into few places. So we decided to visit an offbeat place on this day. My blogger friend had mentioned about this interesting science museum in Gauribidanur Bangalore. So we decided to visit this.

By the time we could decide upon this place it was pretty late. So we hopped onto our car at around 11 am and drove along the Bangalore-Tumakuru Highway. After Dabaspet we had to take a right and drive along the Devarayanadurga road. It was lunch time and since we couldn't find any good restaurants along this route, we stopped at Anugraha Grand which is located at Devarayanadurga peak entrance. Food was good.

We then followed google maps and reached Dr. H N Science Centre around 3 pm. Without any stops, it might take around 2.5 hours to reach this place from Bangalore.

There is ample parking space here since looks like not many people know about this place.

There is a bus stop having the name of this center. Hence people who want to reach by local transport can get down here.

We parked our car and then we walked towards the center.

Entry Fee - There is no ticket counter as such. But you will find two people seated at one corner and giving tickets for this museum. Ticket fare is Rs.10 per person.

Timings - 10 am to 5 pm (Tuesday Holiday)

Restrooms - Available. Clean and well maintained

Food options - None. Please plan accordingly

You will also find a map of this entire area which will help you plan and explore accordingly.

Who was Dr. HN? Dr. H. Narasimhaiah was an Indian physicist, educator, writer, freedom fighter and rationalist from Karnataka. Publicly known as "HN", he was the Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University and the president of the National Education Society. His significant contribution has been in the field of science

As you take your entry ticket and start walking, there is an interesting set up of Solar system which will grab everyone's attention since this is made available right at the center of this place.

If there is a school group with teachers, then you will get a guide also who will give a tour of this museum. Unfortunately since it was a Sunday, there were no school groups and hence there was no guide available as well.

Sound Garden

There are many more interesting exhibits in Sound Garden. You must visit to experience them. Hence I am not posting all pictures here 😊.

Sundials

These exhibits were very interesting where in we could see the ancient methods of identifying the time of the day.

Time for Mathematics

How many of us know the actual value of pie? . Yes the most famous Archimedes principle has been beautifully explained here.

We then walked towards the main building which is the exhibition wing.

Here you will find Human evolution gallery, Space Gallery and fun science gallery.

We are not allowed to click pictures inside this gallery. But interested people can spend easily an hour just inside the gallery where in concepts like Charles Darwin's evolution theory, life on Moon/Mars, gravity and many more. Before entering this exhibition hall, you will get a glimpse of what you are going to experience inside. Simply loved it.

Overall this place is totally worth the visit especially for kids since they get to learn science, mathematics and other concepts in an interesting and fun filled way.
