Costa Fortuna - Day 6 & Last day – Port Klang, Malaysia

Our last day of porting was at Port Klang, Malaysia. Port Klang is a town and main gateway to sea into Malaysia. In fact, it is one of the largest ports in the country. While getting down from the ship, we could see huge trailers parked in the dockyard just like what I had seen in movies.

We had to walk a bit to reach bus parking lot. Here again just like Langkawi, many tourist buses were parked and lot of tourists were there. It took some time for us to spot our Chariot tour bus. Finally we found our bus and hopped onto it to commence on Kuala Lumpur City tour.

Batu Caves

This was the first spot of the day. This is a hill hosting a series of caves and cave temples within. Its name is derived from the Malay word Batu meaning “rock”. This cave is also one of most popular Hindu Shrines here dedicated to Lord Murugan. You can see long tall standing gold plated statue of Lord Murugan from a far off distance. Another important part that will catch your eye are the colorful steps to walk up to the temple. Yes, you will need to climb around 300 steps to reach the first temple and another 25-30 more for another temple further inside.

Before we start our climb, temple volunteers near the steps check our dress code. You need to make sure your sleeves and knees are covered. In case not, temple authorities will give you a stroll to drape around for a minimal rental fare which you can return on your way back and it is refunded.

We started our climb uphill. Steps to the caves are really steep and challenging. While at the beginning it looks thrilling, but midway your pace starts slowing down. One tip – stay on one side, keep walking slowly at your own pace, and do not look back. In addition, the steps are a bit slippery so be cautious while climbing.

Finally, we made it to the first temple.

Offered our prayers and began our climb to the topmost cave.

There are lot of small temples around the caves.

Walk inside the caves is little slippery since there is water everywhere so please watch out your steps. But once you are there, you will find some kind of energy circling you which you usually find in most of the temples. Worth a visit while in Kuala Lumpur.

It was a soothing and refreshing experience. We started to descend back now to parking lot.

When you are back at the parking lot, you will find lot of food shops, tender coconut stalls, souvenirs, cloth shops just like how you find in any temple premises of India.

Independent Square

This is a very famous square and most visited in Kuala Lumpur. You will see a high flagpole holding the giant Malaysian Flag. This is where the country’s independence was declared by hoisting this flag in the middle of the square. Hence the name. You will also see flags from other nations are place around the Independent square. You will find lot of colonial buildings around the square. Nothing much to do here. You can just click some pictures around this place and head back.

Photo Stop at twin tower

Our next spot was a short photo stop at twin tower. We did not have time to go up the tower since we had to head back to ship. Hence the photo stop.

Photo Stop at KL tower -

Last and final stop of the day was another photo stop at the famous KL Tower. Also known as Kuala Lumpur Tower , it is one of the tallest telecommunication tower in south east Asia and one of the iconic landmarks of Malaysia. We did not go up the tower since we did not have time for that. Clicked some pictures from the parking lot and near the lawn area of the tower.

Lunch Time

Lunch was arranged at Olive tree restaurant and food was delicious no doubts about it. We are thankful to Chariot tours for arranging food at good Indian restaurants at all places we visited.

We had to head back to ship by 3 PM. Hence post lunch we immediately boarded the bus and reached Port Klang Cruise terminal.

We were in fact not sad that our Kuala Lumpur tour ended so soon. We were happy and excited to spend our last day on the cruise availing all the pleasures on board to our heart’s content J

Last Day on Costa Fortuna

It was a busy evening. By the time we reached our cabins, our room clearance bills were kept in the post boxes. So I headed to customer service desk to clear the bills because only post this we will get our passports. There were some fun events for kids arranged since it was last day. So my niece headed there and came back late evening with lot of goodies J. Post clearing the bills, we went to collect our passports and we were told that we could keep our room keys as Costa Fortuna Souvenir.

Next stop was at the photo center to collect some good memorable pictures way back home. It was quite expensive though (30 Euros for 7 pictures) but you will be definitely tempted to take them. We then headed to theater since they were supposed to explain us the disembarkation procedure next day – how to exit the ship, where we need to collect our baggage etc.

Post dinner we headed to theater again where nice thanksgiving sessions to the staff onboard was arranged which was really a nice gesture. We all were very happy to clap and thank every staff from all different departments for giving us wonderful services onboard and making our stay pleasurable.

Thank you Costa Fortuna. It was indeed my “Ship on dreams” – for making my another dream come true J
