Rayakottai - Day Trek to a Fort on a Hilltop

Rayakottai trek – 14th Feb 2021 Things were getting back to normal now that vaccine was in place. Travel industry also started reviving slowly with all travel groups following necessary protocols to ensure hassle-free safe travel. So finally, after a long gap of a year, we decided to venture out on our first trek this year. Thank to my travel buddy who always choses the best place and this time she chose Rayakottai trek which I had never heard of but was super excited to explore. Hence without a second thought, decided to book this trek with BMC (Bangalore Mountaineering Club) which was a day’s trek planned on Saturday.   We were picked up from our designated stops through different parts of Bangalore city at around 7 am. It was hard to get up so early that also on a Saturday morning, but anything for a wonderful trek experience 😊. It’s new year and here’s wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2021. Wishing all of us many more safe, hassle-free travel in the coming year 😊. My travel buddies had been planning to venture out on a day’s trip from quite some time. Somehow it did not work. Finally, we decided to initiate this on New Year’s Eve and what a good day chosen to kick-start this. Kudos to them 😊. My friends had planned to visit an offbeat place in fact a temple near Tumakuru, Bangalore (India) – Sree Bettada Byraveshwara Swami temple. And in this blog, I will be taking you all on our journey and experience.  Time to destination from Bangalore is around 1 hour 45 minutes.  After you cross the Nelamangala toll, you will need to switch on google maps since there are no sign boards which will lead you to this temple. Ooty - Queen of the hills

Nestled in the Nilgiris Mountains is a tinsel town “Ooty” officially known as Udagamandalam which allures visitors in abundance to witness its postcard picture perfect beauty. This is a very famous hill station in Tamil Nadu, India and has all the required ingredients of a charming hill station thereby attracting many tourists throughout the year. It is the most popular holiday destination in South India worth visiting for a weekend stay. Long weekend was approaching for Christmas and it was holiday time. All of us were equally frustrated being at home since March due to Pandemic and were longing for a break. Without a second thought, the obvious choice for relaxation was Ooty 😊.
